IABP is a joint venture created as a limited company in May 2005. The partnership is made up of mixture of public and private sector organisations, with the shareholders comprising Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Moray Estates Development Company Ltd. The venture is also supported by The Highland Council. In total, the site extends to around 250 hectares of land located adjacent to Inverness Airport. Over the long term, it is expected that around 350,000sq m of accommodation will be developed for a mixture of business and industrial uses together with supporting facilities such as hotels, conferencing, retail and other amenities.

An outline planning application was submitted for the entire development in February 2008. This proposes the following: 213,000 sqm of Business 72,000 sqm of general industryy 24,000 sqm of storage and distribution 25,000 sqm hotel and conferencing 11,000 sqm of associated services e.g. crèche, support retail, café, etc.
